Mozambique - Rehabilitation of Amílcar Cabral Elementary School
Soares da Costa joined the Portuguese Cooperation and the Embassy of Portugal in Mozambique in a rehabilitation project for Amílcar Cabral Elementary School in Maputo.
The initiative's main goal was to rehabilitate the school facilities that were already very rundown and needed a quick intervention before the start of the new academic year, which begins in February in Mozambique.
Soares da Costa was responsible for repairing and coating the exterior walls, plumbing and replacement of sanitary and ceramic wares. This work began in December, after the end of 2015 academic year. Upon the return to classes, on February 6th, the work was already completed, which illustrates the success of this project.
The opening ceremony took place on the 14th of April and, in addition to school management team, teachers, students, parents and representatives of the companies cooperating in the project, it also included the presence of Dr. Judite Baloi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation wife, Dr. Maria José Duarte, Portugal Ambassadress, Mrs. Maria Macropoulos, Consul of Greece, the District Director of Education and Dr. Miguel Girão de Sousa, Counsellor for Cooperation of the Embassy of Portugal .
Currently, Amilcar Cabral school accommodates over 500 students aged 6 to 10 years.
This cooperation project is another example of social responsibility initiatives that Soares da Costa has been carrying out in Mozambique.
